The largest fire testing and certification operation in the UK, running furnaces, calorimeters and the Burn Hall — one of Europe’s largest dedicated fire performance facilities — at the Garston campus in Watford. It is a UKAS-accredited testing laboratory (0578) covering the BS 476 parts, the EN 1363/1364/1634 fire resistance series, reaction to fire, the EN 54 detection series and BS 8414 external cladding tests, and a UKAS-accredited product certification body (0007) issuing LPCB approvals and the LPS scheme listings that appear throughout this directory. BRE is owned by the BRE Trust, which funds its research.
