The Centre d’Études et de Recherches de l’Industrie du Béton runs a dedicated fire testing centre, the Centre d’Essais au Feu, at its Épernon site: COFRAC accreditation 1-0001 and approval from the Ministry of the Interior for fire resistance testing. Its equipment is built for multi-scale work — materials, products, individual construction elements or whole structures — and it is one of the few French laboratories set up for tunnel and railway fire testing, where the fire curve and the geometry are nothing like a building furnace. Funded by the precast concrete industry as a centre technique industriel; testing is sold on the open market and is not restricted to concrete.
