Its fire scope is narrower than its size suggests and worth stating precisely: the NRTL recognition covers UL 864 control units and accessories for fire alarm systems and UL 924 emergency lighting and power equipment rather than fire resistance or reaction to fire, and the group’s large-scale fire testing is aimed at battery energy storage, run to its own CSA TS-800 procedure at facilities in North Carolina and Suzhou and at the distributed-energy laboratory at Independence, Ohio, which offers megawatt-scale fire testing and an outdoor fire and explosion test area.
