FTRL is a fire equipment testing laboratory in Sonipat, set up in 2006. It tests portable and wheeled fire extinguishers, extinguishing media (foam concentrate, dry chemical powder, wet chemical agents), hose reels, fire hose, couplings, branch pipes and hydrant equipment to IS, EN, UL, ASTM, NFPA and ISO standards, all from a 3-acre facility. It supports BIS certification, export (CE/GCC) and tender testing for manufacturers, engineering firms and facility owners. It is recognised by the Bureau of Indian Standards (OSL code 8123835) to test portable and wheeled fire extinguishers (IS 15683, IS 16018), fire hose (IS 636), hose reels (IS 884), landing valves (IS 5290) and IS 908 equipment, and holds ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation from NABL.
