About

Widigruppen is a fire investigation practice founded in 2011 in Stockholm by David Widlund, a fire protection engineer from Lund University who trained as a fire investigator with the Swedish police’s national forensic centre, including its training in writing expert statements, and who holds the national agency’s year-long incident command course for fire engineers. He served in the municipal rescue service from 2004 to 2010 as an incident commander and fire investigator writing expert reports on fire cause and fire spread. The practice determines fire origin and cause, writes fire-spread expert statements and takes arson questions, working from the forensic centre’s own investigation template, with instructions from rescue services, municipalities, insurers, companies, lawyers and government agencies. Published references include a gas explosion at a steelworks, a row-house fire affecting fourteen dwellings and simultaneous supermarket fires.
